4th Street is running a STUNNING competition called #My4thStreetParty where they’re giving away 4 parties to the value of R200 000 EACH. The best part? You get to throw any party your heart desires. A trip overseas? A banging house party? A stay in a swag hotel with your besties for a weekend? If you can dream it up, they can help you make it happen.
If it were me, I would definitely be going to Paris Fashion Week with the other half of The Duo Desk / bestie (Palesa)
#JustSaying!
4th Street wanted to give Palesa and myself a taste of #My4thStreetParty - so exactly 4 weeks ago we attended Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Cape Town with them. 4th Street knew that MBFW would be the perfect party for Palesa and I, and we honestly could not have picked a better party experience than this.
So, here’s the full inside scoop on our amazing Fashion Week party, as well as details on the most fabulous competition of the year!
We arrived at Cape Town International Airport at 12:15 pm on a Friday afternoon #DuoDeskStyle.
The weather was absolutely beautiful in Cape Town, which was apparently not the case a few days prior. It was like the Mother City knew The Duo Desk was in town, so she decided to show off. We were picked up and transported to our hotel in a lovely über cab. We arrived at the hotel at 12:30pm, and were welcomed by the friendliest staff of The Table Bay Hotel. This was to be our home for the weekend.
We were both shown to our rooms where awaiting us were some awesome goodies from 4th Street. These included, a V&A Waterfront voucher, Zara Voucher, 4th Street selfie stick and some delicious 4th Street beverages, just to name a few. We literally had a few minutes to soak it all in, then it was time to head out again.
We arrived at the Pichulik Studio at 2pm, where we were welcomed by the owner Katherine-Mary Pichulik. We had the opportunity to pick out a few pieces, which Katherine-Mary guided us through.
Katherine-Mary gave us such a memorable, and undoubtedly special personalised shopping experience. She shared the origin of every piece as well as the unique meaning behind them, which definitely lead to some goosebump inducing moments.
Pichulik is a bespoke range of wild neckpieces handcrafted in Cape Town using locally manufactured ropes and interesting found materials. Inspired by African and Middle Eastern Ornamentation, Pichulik creates statement pieces for bold and courageous women. Also, keep a look out for something fun The Duo Desk will be doing to highlight the amazing pieces we picked up at PICHULIK.
For more on PICHULIK and how you can shop their range, check out their website here.
After our incredible shopping experience at Pichulik, it was time to head back to our hotel, where a makeup artist from MAC Cosmetics was waiting to do our makeup.
Rushana Isaacs (MAC Makeup Artist) was inspired by the geometric pattern on our ensembles. She then recreated an inspired graphic on our eyes to perfectly mirror the pattern.

It was finally time for us to head out to attend Day 2 of MBFWCT. Palesa and I wore Oath by Rich Mnisi.

Mama we made it! Look at us sitting front row!

AWESOME, SO HAPPY FOR YOU
I’ve been planning my crown birthday since the beginning of the year and though it’s only next year March, I already know how I want it to be. The last time I had a party was when I was a kid, so turning 24 on the 24th is a reason to celebrate and go big so my dream party should look like this:
Theme: Gold and black
Venue: Classy and Sophisticated
Dress Code: Smart in Black with a touch of gold
I plan this to be an amazing 3 course dinner, with the most important people in my life. Once we have eaten and speeches have been said, we would than pop the bottles opened and enjoy the rest of the night. I want to make sure the table is set to the theme, the perfect birthday cake and lovely black and gold balloons everywhere. I would also love a photo booth (like the Kardashians always have) to capture all the fun and silly moments
Dream party: Me and my ‘mains’ eating our lives away in both Phuket and Bangkok, plus a mini ‘drive-thru’ to the south of France just for a picnic and some bubbles ofCOZ… #My4thStreetyPary
September is my BFFs birthday month and I’m planning a fabulous surprise party for her, so this 4th Street Wine Party Starter Kit would be a huge blessing. So, the plan is to get her outfit (cute LBD) delivered to her office, with a cute little note / hint of what the plan is for her special day. Then chocolate and flowers to follow around lunch time, she loves chocolates. Then later on, we’re going to meet up at the hotel in Sandton, that we’ve already booked for din-thingz, her mom will also be there, (she’s promised to fly down from Cape Town). After dinner, the plan is to bring some masseuses to the hotel so we can have a girls night in while enjoying great body treatment massages and grooming.
Please, please, please pick me :)
PS: Also, shared on Twitter
I’ve been hoping to have a modern mhlonyane.
I’m 23 years old now and my mom was planning to do one for me before she died. Sadly she bought half of my traditional gear.
On my modern traditional mhlonyane wishlist:
1. 4th Street fruity welcoming drinks for before esingcawini
2. High fashion African print outfit
3. Zulu traditional attire to do my traditional dance.
4. Sexy waitrons serving delicious mini traditional dishes.
5. And obviously a beautiful cake.
Guests should be strictly dressed in African attire.
My Dreamy Party
I would love to tag along my AMAZING BOYFRIEND and CRAZY FASHIONISA friends to the breathtaking Dubai. We planned to celebrate my 24th birthday in Durban cause we can’t afford to head to Dubai but that’s our next destination when we get the MOOLA.
Can we please stay at one of these exquisite hotels JUMEIRAH CREEKSIDE HOTEL and ÀRMANI HOTEL. Irresistible must say. Slumber Party will do, for my celebration.
Next stop Dubai Shopping Mall since its said to not just be a mall but a mini city, who wouldn’t want to shop away there? Come on.
Go for a wooden boat ride at the Bur Dubai Abra Dock and Dubai Fountains strictly at night.
Since I’m a seafood lover I’d like to expense the Pierchic Restaurant looks like it is a great place. The ambiance seems insane.
Let me be fabulous #4thstreetparty#newhipster#4thStreetParty
